Family Re-Unification Therapist

As a family reunification therapist, I provide a form of family therapy, often court-ordered, when a parent-child contact problem has created a situation where the child refuses or resists spending time with one parent. Family reunification therapy is usually best suited for separated or divorced families in which there is a favored parent and a rejected parent. Many people may assume this occurs due to parental alienation, however that is only one potential cause of a parent-child relationship rift. Children sometimes reject a parent because that parent said or did things that upset the child, or the child was a victim of an abusive parent.  Children often withdraw from a parent to avoid conflict. The child may have a shared negative belief with one parent about the other parent.
